The 100th apple tree has been planted under the Schools  Mini Orchard project funded by Airbus, in partnership with the Forest of Avon Trust. Children from Bromley Heath School took part in planting apple trees in their school grounds on Thursday 17th February 2011 and planted the 100th tree. The project will plant a total of 200 trees in 20 local schools, each of which was nominated by the children as part of a competition, organised in conjunction with the Bristol Evening Post.
The 10 schools which have planted mini- orchards so far, are:-
  1. Bromley Heath Primary School, Downend.
  2. Bridge Learning Campus, Hartcliffe;
  3. Callicroft Primary, Patchway;
  4. Grove Junior School, Nailsea;
  5. Horfield Primary School;
  6. Little Mead Primary School, Southmead;
  7. Shield Road Primary School, Filton;
  8. St. Chads Primary, Little Stoke;
  9. St. Keyna Primary School, Keynsham;
  10. Our Lady of the Rosary, Lawrence Weston
