53 Rolls Royce Staff Get Stuck In

Rolls Royce engineering staff from Britain, Saudi Arabia and India volunteered their time to improve The Retreat, a community woodland near Upton Cheyney.

The group constructed three benches, created a fantastic wildlife pond, removed many hundreds of tree tubes and stakes, and cut back overhanging vegetation. The sun managed to shine and a great day was had by all, refreshments being supplemented by mugs of tea cooked over a fire lit in the bushcraft manner.

The Forest of Avon Trust organised the project on behalf of Rolls Royce and with the very kind permission of site’s owner, the Woodland Trust. Jon Clark of the Forest of Avon Trust was very ably assisted on the day by Wayne Smith (benches) ; Antony Whitlock (fire- making/ bushcraft) ; and Ben Hall (& Sean) CTV (pond making and vegetation clearance) .

These are exciting times and the Forest of Avon Trust is negotiating to lease The Retreat. To keep updated, please watch this space.

If your company would like to make a real difference to your local area and have a fantastic time doing so, please call Jon Clark on (0117) 963 3383.

The Forest of Avon Trust is very grateful for Rolls Royce’s continuing support and for the donation of tools used in this event.
