Training

There is compelling evidence that activities in woodland and the wider natural environment make a positive and lasting contribution to the lives of all ages and abilities.

If you are interested in leading groups in woodland and other natural spaces, we can offer the following professional training (courses updated through the year).

2012 Professional Training Courses

OCN Level 3 Forest School Leader Award – in Bristol

11th, 12th, 13th, 16th & 17th July and then 24th & 25th September, 2012 (total 7 days) – Cost: £800

This course is for professionals and independent practitioners working with children, young people and adults who want to set up and run a Forest School. You will cover a wide range of theory and practical skills from the following 3 units:

  • Learning and Development at Forest School
  • Forest School Practical Skills and Woodland Management
  • Establishment and delivery of a Forest School Programme.

To complete the course (9-12months) you will be required to develop a written portfolio of your work in your own time, have access to a group to plan and run 6 sessions with and have an up to date CRB and First Aid qualification.

The Forest of Avon Trust employs a Chartered Landscape Architect and Chartered Town Planner. We are extremely well placed to support local authorities and town/ parish councils with woodland, landscape, planning, green infrastructure and community engagement, working as a consultant or as part of a team. Top Quality Fruit Trees for Sale

These will be available for sale direct from the Trust in winter 2012. Prices for high- quality, English pot- grown 1.plants are a very competitive £25 collected and £30 delivered. Ornamental trees may also be available. Contact jonclark@forestofavontrust.org for details.

Forest of Avon Plan

The Forest of Avon Plan remains valid for the Forest of Avon area. CDs can be posted for £5- which can be donated on line, or paid as a cheque. Please contact jonclark@forestofavontrust.org for copies. Hard copy 2005 planning guidance for each of the four the Forest of Avon can be posted individually, or as a set for £2.
